Ask @grok in an X reply
Tag @grok under a post on X and Grok answers in the same thread with that post as context. The reply is public.
Call Grok in the thread
- Open the post or reply you want explained, checked, or continued.
- Write a reply that starts with
@grok, then the ask: explain, verify a claim, summarize the thread, or generate an image tied to the post. - Post. Wait for the
@grokaccount to reply in-thread.
You can also open the ... menu on a post and choose Ask Grok when that control is present. Same job: Grok reads the post (and often the image) and answers.
What belongs in the ask
- Point at the claim: “is this true,” “what changed,” “explain the chart.”
- Keep private drafts off this path. Public threads stay public, including any image Grok generates there.
- For a private session with higher limits, open the Grok tab in X, grok.com, or the Grok apps instead.
Pitfalls
- In-thread
@grokhas been gated to X Premium / Premium+ on some accounts. If the mention does nothing, check your plan, then use the Grok tab or grok.com. - A Grok reply is a model answer in public. Open the primary source before you treat it as settled.
- Rate limits and plan gates change. If the bot stays quiet, retry later or move the same ask into a private Grok chat.
