Clear a stuck “Approval needed” badge on the Grok Bot homepage

On the agent-view homepage, a Bot tile can keep saying Approval needed after nothing is left to approve. Cursor staff (Colin) tie this to Auto-review cards that expire (~10 minutes) while the homepage tile fails to clear. A Sep 3, 2026 repro on iOS confirmed: after the card expired with no Approve/Deny click, the tile stayed; a later short message in that chat cleared it.

Opening the Bot and finding an empty approval queue is normal for this bug. The badge is stale UI state.

Clear the badge

Staff workarounds that clear a stuck tile:

1. Open the Bot whose homepage tile still says Approval needed.
2. Send a short follow-up message in that conversation (even a one-word ping).
3. If the badge remains, fully quit Grok Bot and reopen (restart).

Expiry alone may not clear the tile. The follow-up message is the reliable clear in the reported repro.

When the badge is real

Sensitive or consequential actions can stop for approval (Bot FAQ). Passwords, 2FA, CAPTCHAs, and similar human-only steps use computer takeover. If an approval card is still visible and not expired, Approve or Deny it — do not ignore a live card.

Put standing boundaries in each Bot’s description and add narrow Require Approval rules for send, publish, delete, purchase, or production changes.

Report a stuck badge

If you want to help staff track the expiry-clear bug:

1. Trigger an action that shows an approval card.
2. Leave the card alone until it shows expired (~11 minutes).
3. Check the homepage tile.
4. Note Grok Bot version under Profile → About, surface (macOS / Windows / iOS / Android), and whether a follow-up message cleared the badge.

Pitfalls

• Distinct from approval UI crashes on undefined .subject — that is a different bug when the card itself fails to render.
• A real pending Auto-review still needs Approve/Deny; this how-to is for the empty-queue stale label only.
• Hiding a Bot from the sidebar does not clear its approval state.
