Connect Gmail so Grok can search your mail

Connectors are available to every Grok user. Gmail and Google Calendar are two separate OAuth connections. The base Gmail connection is read-only.

Connect Gmail

1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
2. Click New Connector and choose Gmail.
3. Sign in with Google and approve the permissions Grok shows.
4. Back in a chat, ask a search the way you would in Gmail: from:, to:, subject:, newer_than:, has:attachment.

Once it is connected, Grok can use Gmail when the question is about your mail. You do not flip a tool on per message.

Calendar, if you want it

1. Stay on grok.com/connectors.
2. Click New Connector and choose Google Calendar.
3. Sign in and approve. Search events, read attendees, or check free/busy from the chat.

Write tools (send mail, create events) appear only when those scopes are enabled. On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin has to provision the connector in console.x.ai before anyone on the team can connect it.

Disconnect

1. Open grok.com/connectors.
2. Find Gmail or Google Calendar and click Disconnect.
3. Or revoke the app at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

xAI's connector docs say they do not train on this Gmail or Calendar data, and that the mail itself is read at ask time rather than stored.

Pitfalls

• Gmail and Calendar are two rows. Connecting one does not sign the other in.
• On a work Google account, an admin can block the OAuth app. That is an org setting, not a Grok bug.
