Connect Google Drive so Grok can open your Docs and Sheets
Google Drive is a built-in connector. After OAuth, Grok can reach Drive files, Docs, Sheets, and Slides from a normal chat.
Connect Drive
- Go to grok.com/connectors.
- Click New Connector and choose Google Drive.
- Complete Google's OAuth screen. Approve only what you are willing to share.
- Back in chat, ask for a file by name, folder, or what you need from it: summarize this Doc, chart the Sheet, pull the latest Slide notes.
Grok turns the connector on when the question needs Drive. You do not flip a per-message switch.
Business and Enterprise
On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin must provision the connector in the cloud console before members can connect it. If New Connector never lists Drive, that is the first place to check.
Disconnect
- Open grok.com/connectors.
- Find Google Drive and click Disconnect.
- Or revoke the app under your Google account permissions.
Pitfalls
- Drive is separate from Gmail and Google Calendar. Each one is its own OAuth row.
- A work Google Workspace admin can block the OAuth app. That blocks the connector for everyone under that domain.
- Custom MCP connectors are a different path for tools that are not in the built-in list or catalog. Use New Connector → Custom only when you have a public MCP server URL ready.
