Connect Microsoft Teams so Grok can search and send

The Teams connector searches channels and chats, reads threads, sends messages, replies, and starts new chats from Grok. Permissions are delegated to the account you sign in with.

Connect

1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
2. Click New Connector and choose Microsoft Teams.
3. Sign in with your Microsoft work or school account.
4. Read the scopes and click Accept.

Grok then uses Teams when the question is about a channel, a chat, or a person on that tenant. You do not flip a per-message switch.

What it can do

• Search messages across channels and chats by keyword.
• Read channel threads, reactions, and @mentions.
• Read one-to-one and group chats.
• Send a channel message or reply in a thread.
• Send a chat message, or create a new one-to-one or group chat.
• List teams, channels, and members (including roles).

Ask for the work in the chat: Search #incidents for last night's outage and draft a reply in the thread. Wait for me before you send.

Disconnect

1. Open grok.com/connectors.
2. Find Microsoft Teams and click Disconnect.
3. Or revoke the app at myapps.microsoft.com.

xAI's Teams docs say they do not train on this data, and that Teams content is read at ask time rather than stored.

Pitfalls

• Write scopes are on by default (ChannelMessage.Send, ChatMessage.Send, Chat.Create). Say so in the prompt if Grok must draft and wait.
• Some tenants show Need admin approval. An Azure AD admin has to consent the xAI Grok app under Enterprise applications.
• Grok can only see teams, channels, and chats the signed-in user already belongs to.
• On Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin may have to provision the connector in the cloud console before the row appears.
