Create your first Grok Bot teammate

Use this when you want your first Grok Bot teammate installed, named, and working on a real task. Each Bot has a name, a job, its own conversation, and a shared cloud computer. Bot usage is billed on its own pool.

Install and sign in

  1. Open the Grok Bot access page from Get started and download for your computer.
  2. macOS: pick Apple silicon or Intel, open the disk image, drag Grok Bot to Applications, then open it.
  3. Windows: pick x64 or Arm64, run the installer, then open Grok Bot from the Start menu.
  4. Choose Sign in on the welcome screen (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started, checked 2026-09-25). Finish sign-in in the browser. Grok Bot uses your Cursor account.
  5. Answer the first-run questions about the tools you use. Those answers only shape teammate suggestions.

Linux: "Linux builds publish with every stable release. Get them under More downloads on x.ai/bot" (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started, checked 2026-09-25).

Sources differ on platforms. The docs list desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux (x64 and Arm64; .deb, .rpm, or AppImage) and mobile apps for iPhone, iPad (iPadOS 18 or later), and Android 9 or later (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/faq, checked 2026-09-25). The FAQ on x.ai/bot says "desktop (macOS or Windows) or your phone with the iOS app" (checked 2026-09-25). Accounts on Legacy Privacy Mode have to move to a supported Cursor data setting before Grok Bot starts.

Eligible plans

Sources differ on plan wording. The get-started page lists "every paid individual Cursor plan or the Cursor Teams plan, or an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription linked to your Cursor account" (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started, checked 2026-09-25). The FAQ says Grok Bot is "included with every paid individual Cursor plan and with the Cursor Teams plan" and that "you can link an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription" (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/faq, checked 2026-09-25). The SuperGrok card on x.ai/pricing lists "Grok Bot access" (checked 2026-09-25). The docs say "linked," while the pricing card and xAI's news say "included." Cursor's Plans and billing page also lists X Premium+ (cursor.com/help/grok-bot/plans, checked 2026-09-25). After you sign in, trust the access page you land on.

Sources differ on Enterprise. xAI announced Grok Bot for Enterprise on Sep 3, 2026 (x.ai/news/grok-bot-for-enterprise), and the docs FAQ says enterprise access is rolling out (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/faq, checked 2026-09-25). xAI's Aug 26 post said "Enterprise users can join a waitlist" (x.ai/news/grok-bot-more-plans). If you're on Enterprise, contact your Cursor account team.

Create the Bot

  1. Pick a suggested teammate, or choose Create your own.
  2. Give it a short name, one primary job, and a description of how it should work.
  3. Or press New or Cmd/Ctrl+N, select Create new Bot, then open the Bot menu or choose Edit Profile (docs.x.ai/grok-bot/bots, checked 2026-09-25).
  4. Put durable rules in the description (approval, what it must never send). Put the day's task in the first message.

The design post describes practical limits of roughly 50 Bots per account and six Bots per group chat (x.ai/news/designing-grok-bot, checked 2026-09-25).

First task

Write the outcome, the sources, the constraints, the deliverable, and when it should stop for you. Official starter that needs no login:

Summarize this document in five bullets. List every date, decision, and open question in a separate section. Cite the page or section for each item. Do not change the source file.

When it hits a login wall, open Agent Computer, take over, enter the password or 2FA yourself, then hand the computer back.

Pitfalls

  • A job named General Helper gives the Bot less to keep. Talent Scout, Expense Manager, and Bug Reproduction are the kind of names the docs use.
  • Hiding a Bot removes it from the sidebar. It does not pause the Bot or its routines.
  • A public share link shows the Bot's identity, description, skills, and routines. Strip keys and customer data before you copy it.
