Download and keep media from your Imagine library

Imagine keeps generated stills and clips in your library on grok.com/imagine and in the Grok apps. Search and Projects help you find work again. Download anything you need offline — library layout and label names can change between rollouts.

For finding items and running parallel agents, see the separate Search / Projects how-to. This page is about keeping files on your device and managing storage.

Find the piece first

  1. Open grok.com/imagine (or Imagine in the app).
  2. Use Search over your library with a word from the prompt or subject.
  3. Or open the Project that holds the set, then pick the still or clip.

Download on the web

  1. Open the still or video from the grid or search hit.
  2. Use the download / save control on that media (label varies by rollout).
  3. Confirm the file lands in your browser’s download folder as an image or MP4.
  4. Keep the marked original when a client or platform asks for provenance. Imagine outputs carry a Grok watermark; there is no toggle to remove it.

Save from the phone

  1. Open the same media in the Grok app’s Imagine view.
  2. Use the system share or save action to write it to Photos / Files.
  3. For a clip, wait until playback is ready before saving so you do not export an incomplete render.

Organize without relying on a heart button

Favorites, tags, and heart controls have moved or disappeared for some accounts across app versions. When those labels are missing:

  1. Create or open an Imagine Project in the sidebar.
  2. Keep related stills and clips in that Project so the next session starts from the same pile.
  3. Name Projects by job (“Product hero,” “Thumbnails week 36”) so you can reopen the set without a global favorites list.

Free space and deleted history

On the web, go to grok.com/files to delete content and free storage. Broader data controls live under Profile → Settings → Data Controls.

If a generation never finished or was moderated, it will not appear as a library hit. Download keepers soon after you approve them so a later library cleanup does not strand the only copy.

Pitfalls

  • Chat Projects at grok.com/project and Imagine Projects share a name and a different job. File chat uploads under chat Projects; keep generated media under Imagine.
  • Batch “mass download entire library” is not a documented consumer control. Export one keeper at a time, or use the API persistence path if you are building a pipeline.
  • Watermark stripping is banned under the Acceptable Use Policy. Save the marked file; do not chase removal tools.
