Own Grok outputs and use Imagine stills commercially

Own Grok outputs and use Imagine stills commercially

The consumer FAQ (dated May 12, 2025) states: you own the Inputs and Outputs. You are free to use Grok’s Outputs, including generated images, as you wish, including for commercial use. You also grant SpaceXAI certain use rights under the Consumer Terms.

Attribute the work

SpaceXAI Brand Guidelines (February 14, 2025) ask you to credit SpaceXAI and Grok in a legible, noticeable way wherever the generated material is published or distributed. The two phrases they list:

  • Written with Grok
  • Created with Grok

Use those lines on the page, post, or product that carries the output. The same guidelines bar using SpaceXAI or Grok marks in a way that implies endorsement, or putting those marks in an app title, domain name, or product name you did not make.

Press materials that mention SpaceXAI go through legal@x.ai first.

Keep the Imagine watermark

Generated images and videos include a Grok watermark. There is no setting to remove it. The product FAQ and Acceptable Use Policy prohibit removing, altering, or obscuring that watermark or other provenance signals. See Understand the Grok Imagine watermark.

Inputs you do not own

You have to have the rights to anything you upload or paste as Input. Ownership of Output does not clear a photo, logo, or document you did not have permission to feed in.

Pitfalls

  • Commercial use of the pixels still leaves the watermark on the file. Cropping it off is the prohibited step.
  • “Created with Grok” is the attribution line. It does not let you put the Grok logo on packaging.
  • Enterprise API customers sit under different terms. This page is the consumer FAQ.
