Stop Auto-review re-prompting after Always allow

Always allow on an approval card saves a text instruction, not a strict per-tool permission. Auto-review can treat the next similar action as outside that rule and show another card. This is a known issue staff are tracking. Strict per-tool Always allow is not available yet. A broader manually written Allow rule usually holds up better.

Write a broader personal Allow rule

1. Open Grok Bot Settings.
2. Open Auto-review (also listed under Settings → General → Auto-review in the docs).
3. Under Auto-review Rules, in When Grok Bot wants to, enter a broader class of action — for example move emails in my Gmail to trash rather than a narrow tool name from Always allow.
4. Set It should to Allow automatically.
5. Click Add Rule.

Clean up narrow Always allow entries

1. In the same rules list, delete the narrow Always allow text instructions that were saved from approval cards for the same class of action.
2. Keep the broader manual rule so the list does not fill up and evict older rules (the list has a size limit and drops the oldest when full).
3. When rules conflict, Ask first takes priority over Allow automatically.

Pitfalls

• Expecting Always allow on the card to bind permanently to one tool — staff say it stores a text instruction the reviewer may not match on the next similar call.
• Leaving both the narrow Always allow entry and a broader Allow rule — delete the narrow ones so the broader rule stays in the list.
• Broad rules like “allow everything in the browser” — official guidance prefers narrow, known action classes; Ask first still wins on conflicts.
• Team Auto-review rules (Enterprise) are separate locked rows set by admins; personal rules only make behavior stricter on top of them.
