Teach a task in Grok Bot

When Teach a task is available on your account, you can show a Bot one browser workflow from the computer view. The Bot turns that demonstration into a draft skill you review and test. Official FAQ: rollout may be gradual, and the recording is capped at ten minutes.

Record once

1. Open the Bot that should learn the workflow.
2. Start Teach a task from the computer view when the control is present.
3. Demonstrate the browser steps you want repeated (one continuous path, under ten minutes).
4. Stop the recording when the outcome is done.
5. Review the draft skill the Bot produces. Edit names, steps, and boundaries before you rely on it.
6. Run the skill once as a one-off task. Confirm it hits the same sites and stops for human login or 2FA when needed.

Skill vs routine

A skill describes how to perform a task. A routine assigns a workflow to one Bot and says when to run it (schedule or supported event). Official FAQ: test the skill on a real one-time task before turning it into a routine.

Overview docs also describe learning a multi-step path from live demonstration and persisting it for later runs. Keep secrets out of the skill body; put standing approval rules on sending, publishing, deleting, purchasing, or production changes.

If Teach a task is missing

Gradual rollout means some accounts will not see the control yet. You can still write a skill by hand from a successful one-off run, then wrap it in a routine when the steps are stable. See Create a Grok Bot routine.

Pitfalls

• Recordings over ten minutes are out of the documented cap. Split long workflows.
• Do not paste passwords into the demonstration chat. Hand over the computer for login and 2FA.
• A draft skill is not production-ready until you review and retest it on a live task.
