Start Voice Mode in the Grok phone app

Voice Mode is hands-free talk with Grok. Free plans include Voice Mode. Paid plans raise the weekly pool; after that pool empties, free-tier Voice still works.

iPhone

1. Install or open Grok from the App Store (iOS 17+).
2. Sign in.
3. Start Voice Mode from the chat / voice control in the app.
4. Talk in short turns. Let Grok finish before you correct it.
5. On iOS, Live Camera can share your view during Voice Mode when the control is available in the app.

Android

1. Install or open Grok by X.AI Corp. from Google Play.
2. Sign in.
3. Start Voice Mode from the app’s voice control.
4. Same turn discipline as iOS.

Keep the products straight

• Consumer Voice Mode lives in the Grok app and on grok.com chat.
• Phone numbers, SIP, and production call agents live under Voice Agent Builder at x.ai/voice / Console. Different install path.
• Companions (Ani, Rudi, Valentine) are iOS-only per FAQ. Skip them on Android and web lessons.

Pitfalls

• Consumer Voice Mode’s exact model id is not documented the way the Voice API is. Teach the button and the plan limits, not an API id.
• Voice names on API marketing pages (Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, Sal, plus later flagship voices) may not match what your app shows after login. Pick from the in-app list you actually see.
