When an old grok.com message keeps reaching your Bots
Use this when the same old grok.com message keeps showing up in a Bot chat as if you typed it again. Staff said those messages are not coming from the Grok Bot app on your computer. A scheduled task in Grok is a common cause, not a confirmed fix. Checked Oct 16, 2026.
Cursor staff (Colin) said on forum thread 175003 on Oct 16, 2026 that the repeats reach your bots through the link between the Grok app (grok.com and the Grok mobile app) and Grok Bot. Right now that link shows messages in your bot's chat as if you typed them. Staff added the report to an issue they are tracking. A common cause is a scheduled task in Grok that still points at your bots.
The original report was on macOS. Users have also named current desktop versions in that thread. This page does not cite a 0.71 changelog entry. The Bot changelog on x.ai still stops at v0.70.2.
There is no docs.x.ai entry for this re-delivery. Staff's Tasks steps are the diagnostic they gave.
Check Grok Tasks
Staff's steps:
- Open grok.com and go to Tasks.
- Look for a scheduled task that still points at your bots or repeats the same prompt.
- Delete any task like that. Do not just archive it. Staff said archived tasks can still run. That “archived tasks can still run” line is staff-cited only. It is not in the docs.
- Do the same check in the Grok app on your phone.
Deleting those tasks is a likely cause to remove, not a guarantee the repeats stop. Staff called it a common cause. If the same line still appears after you delete every matching task, say so on the thread. Do not Reset the Agent Computer for a grok.com task.
Grok on grok.com and Grok Bot are separate products. Bots do not automatically load grok.com Projects. See Why Grok Bot cannot open grok.com Projects. A Task that still aims at your bots is the opposite problem: grok.com is pushing a prompt into Bot chat.
What this is not
These repeats are not the Grok Bot desktop app typing on its own. Staff said they are not coming from the Mac app. They are also not a saved Grok Bot routine until you confirm a routine on that Bot is firing. Bot routines live on the Bot: Save a Grok Bot skill and schedule a routine. Check both surfaces. Delete grok.com Tasks first when staff's “common cause” matches what you see.

Pitfalls
- Archiving a grok.com Task and assuming it is dead. Staff said archived tasks can still run.
- Treating Tasks cleanup as a confirmed fix. Staff called it a common cause.
- Resetting the Bot computer because an old grok.com line keeps appearing. Staff pointed at the Grok app link, not the Mac Grok Bot app.
