Can kids use Grok

Can kids use Grok

xAI’s Consumer FAQ answers the age gate directly under Can children or minors use Grok? Grok is not directed to children or minors under 13. You must confirm you are at least 13 to use Grok.

Ages 13–17

Teenagers between 13 and 17 need a parent or legal guardian’s permission. That adult must also agree to the Consumer Terms of Service.

What parents should watch

Depending on the features and prompts you pick, Grok can produce coarse language, crude humor, sexual situations, or violence. The FAQ urges parents to monitor teenagers’ use. Parents who use Grok in conversations with their own children should set Data Controls in the Grok apps so training, personalization, and related toggles match what they want in the house.

Related controls

  1. Turn off Improve the model under Settings → Data Controls (mobile) or Settings → Data (grok.com) when you want new chats out of training.
  2. Use Private Chat when a thread should stay out of history and out of training.
  3. Delete individual chats or wipe history from Data Controls when a conversation should not stay on the account.

Those steps are covered in Control Grok training, X personalization, chats, and account deletion.

Pitfalls

  • The under-13 rule is an age floor. The Consumer FAQ does not describe a separate children’s product or a kid-safe mode.
  • Grok inside X follows X’s Help Center and terms for that surface. This page covers the Grok apps and grok.com.
  • Role-play and persona choices change how Grok talks. Pick those with the age of the person at the keyboard in mind.
