Dictate into the Grok Bot composer

Official FAQ: Can I dictate or talk to a Bot? On desktop, press Cmd/Ctrl+D or choose Start voice input to dictate into the composer. On iPhone and Android, use Start dictation. Source: Grok Bot FAQ.

Desktop

1. Open a Bot chat in the Grok Bot desktop app (macOS, Windows, or Linux).
2. Focus the composer.
3. Press Cmd+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (Windows / Linux), or pick Start voice input from the UI.
4. Speak. The FAQ treats this path as dictation into the composer (text lands for you to send or edit).

The same FAQ notes that Dictate is the shortcut listed under keyboard shortcuts (Cmd/Ctrl+D). Settings is Cmd/Ctrl+,.

Mobile

On iPhone and Android, choose Start dictation in the companion app. Conversations sync across signed-in devices per the FAQ.

What this is for

Use dictation when you want spoken words turned into composer text you can review before send. For a live spoken conversation with the Bot, use Start voice chat with Grok Bot.

Pitfalls

• Dictation fills the composer. It does not by itself start a live voice session.
• Token / credit cost for voice features is not listed on the FAQ — do not assume a separate Voice meter without an official rate.
• API Speech-to-Text (grok-voice-transcribe-*) is a different product: Use Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0.
