Start voice chat with Grok Bot
Official FAQ: Start voice chat starts a live conversation on desktop, iPhone, and Android. Bots can also send a voice memo you can play in the transcript. Source: Grok Bot FAQ.
Start the live session
- Open Grok Bot on desktop or on the iPhone / Android companion app.
- Open the Bot you want to talk with.
- Choose Start voice chat (button control). The FAQ states this control has no keybinding — only dictate uses
Cmd/Ctrl+D.
Speak in the live session. The Bot can reply with spoken audio and may leave a playable voice memo in the transcript.

Pitfalls
- Do not expect a keyboard shortcut for Start voice chat — FAQ says there is none.
- Mobile live voice chat availability can still roll out by device; if the button is missing, update the app from x.ai/bot and check again.
- Do not merge this with grok.com Voice Mode, Voice Agent Builder phone/SIP, X voice input, or the Speech-to-Text API.
- Usage cost for voice chat is undocumented on the FAQ — check Settings → Usage on your plan. Do not invent a per-minute Bot Voice rate.
