Fix SuperGrok still showing after an Apple refund

Fix SuperGrok still showing after an Apple refund

If you bought SuperGrok through the Apple App Store, Apple owns cancel and refund. The Grok FAQ says App Store refunds go through Apple, not through xAI’s web refund form. After Apple issues a refund, the iOS app or Settings can still look like you have an active plan until the account, App Store subscription list, and app cache agree.

Confirm where you bought it

  1. On iPhone/iPad, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (or App Store → profile → Subscriptions) and find the Grok / SuperGrok entry.
  2. Confirm cancel/refund status there. Apple’s list is the source of truth for App Store purchases.
  3. On grok.com/?_s=billing, check whether a separate web SuperGrok subscription exists under a different login. A web purchase and an App Store purchase are different billing paths.

Web (grok.com) and Google Play refunds use xAI’s refund form. Apple App Store refunds stay with Apple. Full cancel/refund map: Cancel or refund a SuperGrok subscription.

Clear a stuck “still subscribed” UI

The FAQ’s first troubleshooting for login/activation mismatches:

  1. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID / Hide My Email identity you used to subscribe. Private-relay subscriptions only recognize the original Apple sign-in.
  2. Restart the Grok app.
  3. Sign out, then sign back in with that same identity.
  4. Clear the app cache if your OS offers it for Grok.
  5. If the activate/upgrade prompts remain while Apple already shows cancelled/refunded, delete and reinstall the app, then sign in again.
  6. Keep the app on the latest App Store version.

The FAQ’s common mix-up for “I paid but the other platform doesn’t show it” is a different sign-in, not always a second charge. Align Apple/Google/X/email on every device before escalating.

When to contact support

If Apple’s Subscriptions list shows refunded/cancelled and the Grok app still treats you as paid (or the reverse) after reinstall + same Apple sign-in, use Report an issue in the product. Include account email, platform (iOS), a screenshot of Apple Subscriptions, and the approximate refund time. For App Store money movement, stay on Apple’s refund tools; xAI support cannot process Apple’s refund for you.

Pitfalls

  • Managing billing only on grok.com will not cancel an App Store subscription.
  • X Premium / Premium+ refunds go through X Help, not xAI.
  • Web Manage Subscription blocked by an ad-blocker is a different issue — try incognito or another browser on grok.com/?_s=billing.
