Fix Grok Bot blank screen when you are an Unpaid Admin

Grok Bot can open to an empty window with only a loading dot in the middle. Cursor staff (Colin, Sep 2–3, 2026) traced one Mac report (0.30.0, same blank on two machines) to the account, not the Mac or the network: the user sat on a team as Unpaid Admin — an admin role without a paid seat. Grok Bot needs a paid team seat to attach a computer. Without one, the app shows a loading dot with no clear access error. Staff said that missing message is on them and being fixed.

Assign yourself a paid seat

Staff recovery path:

  1. Open cursor.com/dashboard and open the Members page for your team.
  2. Find your own row and change the role from Unpaid Admin to a paid seat (Standard or Premium).
  3. Fully quit Grok Bot on every machine where it is stuck (Cmd+Q on Mac, or Quit from the menu bar icon).
  4. Reopen Grok Bot.

After the seat is paid and the app is fully quit and reopened, the blank loading window should clear and the computer can connect.

Confirm you are on an eligible seat

Eligible Grok Bot access still follows the Bot FAQ (SuperGrok Plus / Heavy, Cursor Pro+ / Ultra, or Cursor Teams Standard / Premium). Unpaid Admin is a team role label, not a paid seat. Changing the Members row is the fix staff gave for this blank-dot case.

Pitfalls

  • Distinct from Fix Grok Bot “Can’t reach your computer” — that path is reachability / DNS / Agent Computer health, not missing seat.
  • Quitting alone without changing Unpaid Admin → Standard/Premium leaves the same blank window.
  • Apply the seat change, then Quit → reopen on each desktop where the loading dot appears.
