Finish Grok Bot sign-in and clear Legacy Privacy Mode

Grok Bot signs in through Cursor. If the browser auth window never returns you to the app, or the app shows a Legacy Privacy Mode error, setup cannot finish. This is separate from SuperGrok login on grok.com (Fix Grok login, activation prompts, and missing subscription).

Sign-in does not complete

Official troubleshooting:

  1. Keep Grok Bot open while authentication runs in your browser.
  2. Confirm the browser shows a successful Cursor sign-in.
  3. Return to the app manually if it does not regain focus.
  4. Try Get started or Sign In with Cursor again.
  5. Confirm the account has Grok Bot access (eligible plans are listed on the live Bot FAQ and get-started pages: SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, Cursor Teams Standard/Premium).
  6. If your organization uses SSO, complete the organization login. A different personal account will not finish that path.

Legacy Privacy Mode

An error about Legacy Privacy Mode means the Cursor account is on a data mode that does not permit the storage Grok Bot needs.

  1. Open the Cursor account data / privacy setting for that login.
  2. Move off Legacy Privacy Mode to a supported data setting.
  3. If the account is org-managed, ask your organization administrator to change the policy.
  4. Retry Sign In with Cursor in Grok Bot.

Until that setting changes, setup will keep failing at the same wall.

After sign-in succeeds

Initial setup and an image update can take several minutes. Keep the app open while Starting your computer or Updating your computer still advances. If the computer later shows unreachable, follow Fix Grok Bot “Can’t reach your computer”.

Pitfalls

  • Desktop apps are macOS and Windows. Companion viewing is iPhone (iOS 18+). Linux desktop, Android, and iPad are not supported at initial launch.
  • Cursor SSO and grok.com Apple/Google/X login are different identity paths. Finish the one the Bot opened.
  • Do not paste passwords or one-time codes into the Bot chat. Complete browser auth yourself, then return to the app.
