Grok Bot
Fix “Grok Bot isn’t available on this account yet” after a password reset
Fix “Grok Bot isn’t available on this account yet” after a password reset
Cursor staff (deanrie, Sep 3, 2026) documented a known Mac-app failure: after you reset your Cursor password, every active session ends, but the desktop Grok Bot app can keep the old session. Requests fail, and the app labels that as “Grok Bot isn’t available on this account yet.” Check Access may send you to the download page even when the app is already installed. Spending and the web dashboard can still show SuperGrok Plus (or another eligible plan) and recent Grok Bot usage.
Staff call it a stale-session bug: the account still has access, and your computer and Bots stay on the account.
Clear the stale session
Staff’s recovery path:
- Open Grok Bot on the machine stuck on isn’t available on this account yet.
- At the bottom of that screen, find Signed in as your email and click Log out.
- Fully quit Grok Bot (menu → Quit, or
Cmd+Qon Mac / equivalent on Windows). - Open Grok Bot again and click Sign in. Complete browser sign-in with the new password on the same account.
- Return to the app. It should reconnect to your existing computer and Bots.
If Log out is missing on that screen, or the message remains after step 5, reply on the forum thread or email support with the step you got stuck on. Do not create a second account to “fix” access.
Confirm the plan is still eligible
Eligible plans (Bot FAQ): SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Pro+, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Standard or Premium. Open the Cursor / Grok spending or access page in the browser while signed in. If SuperGrok Plus (or another eligible plan) still appears with a Grok Bot usage bar, treat the Mac message as session state, not a plan revoke.
Pitfalls
- Check Access → download page does not mean you need a second install when Grok Bot is already in Applications.
- Password reset on phone or web still expires desktop sessions; every device that kept an old session needs Log out → Quit → Sign in.
- Distinct from Fix Grok Bot “Can’t reach your computer” and Understand Grok Bot usage and “failed to respond”.
