Use 1Password for Agents with Grok Bot

Use this when you want Grok Bot to sign in to sites for you with logins you keep in 1Password, and you want to approve each one yourself. With 1Password for Agents, the Bot requests a login, you approve or deny it in your own 1Password, and 1Password fills it. The Bot never sees the password or one-time code. All sources below were checked on Oct 22, 2026.

What the integration does

Grok Bot's announcement on X calls this a "new integration": "Approve the logins you want to share, and your Bot signs in for you" (@bot on X, Oct 22, 2026). 1Password's pages describe the same flow. The agent requests a credential, you approve or deny the request in 1Password, and 1Password fills it (1Password partner page and 1Password for Agents, checked Oct 22, 2026). Connecting does not give the agent access to your whole vault, and 1Password removes the credential after the login.

These sources describe logins, passwords, and one-time codes. They say nothing about other item types.

Check that your account is eligible

1Password says the integration needs a 1Password Individual or Families account on 1password.com, at no extra cost. Accounts on 1password.ca and 1password.eu, Business accounts, and Team Starter Pack accounts are not currently eligible (1Password partner page and 1Password blog, checked Oct 22, 2026). 1Password also says availability "can vary by integration, region, device, and sign-in method."

The integration is rolling out over the next few days, according to Grok Bot's announcement. No source gives a date when the rollout finishes. If you have an eligible account and do not see it yet, the sources say to expect a staged rollout.

Import your passwords into 1Password first

The Bot can only request logins that are already in your 1Password. 1Password's import guide covers these paths (support.1password.com/import, published Aug 28, 2026, checked Oct 22, 2026):

  1. Import a CSV file on 1Password.com. Logins are among the item types it brings in.
  2. On iOS or iPadOS 26 and later, or Android 14 and later, import directly through Credential Exchange. Choose New Item, then Migrate data into 1Password, pick the app you are moving from, and choose Start import.
  3. On a Mac, import a .1pux file in the desktop app with File > Import > 1Password.

The same guide has app-specific instructions for LastPass, Keeper, KeePassXC, and other password managers.

Approve each login yourself

Every approval happens in your own 1Password. Nobody else can approve a login for you, and that includes Grok Bot's account on X. If you ask @bot on X to help, it may reply that it is sending the request to your Grok Bot, and the approval still comes to your 1Password.

Where the sources stop

No docs.x.ai page or changelog entry describes the new flow as of Oct 22, 2026, so there is no Grok Bot menu path to give here. The sources also do not say which Grok Bot plans get the integration, whether a particular app version is needed, or how it works on Android or iOS. They do not say whether the new flow replaces the existing connector, runs beside it, or moves current users over.

The shared-vault connector that works today

Grok Bot already has a 1Password connector that Cursor staff have described on the forum since September (forum thread 172310, staff posts Sep 18 and Oct 20, 2026). It creates a vault named Shared with Grok Bot and a read-only service account for that vault through the 1Password CLI. Staff described a manual path as well:

  1. Create the vault Shared with Grok Bot and move the logins the Bot needs into it.
  2. On 1Password.com, go to Developer > Service Accounts and create a read-only service account for that vault.
  3. In Grok Bot's 1Password connector, choose Use a service account token instead and paste the token.

Staff said the CLI setup needed a Mac, and the token path also works on Windows. A later staff post says each connection now covers one vault, with up to 10 vaults (forum thread 175543, Oct 21, 2026).

Pitfalls

  • Expecting the integration before the rollout reaches your account. The sources give no finish date.
  • Trying it with a 1password.ca, 1password.eu, Business, or Team Starter Pack account. 1Password says those are not currently eligible.
  • Asking the Bot to fill anything other than a login or one-time code. The sources describe only those.
  • Relying on chatbot replies on X for version numbers or menu paths. None of the sources above confirms them.
