Use Grok on grok.com and the apps without an X account
Grok runs as its own product at grok.com and in the Grok iOS and Android apps. The overview page says you sign in once and conversations, settings, and subscription stay in sync across those surfaces. The consumer FAQ lists the same three places: grok.com in a browser, iOS, and Android.
Sign in on grok.com
- Open grok.com in Chrome or another Chromium browser. The product FAQ treats grok.com as the web app; some hosts such as grok.x.ai drop features like Projects.
- Sign in with Apple, Google, or the email on the xAI account you want to keep. Manage those methods later at accounts.x.ai.
- Buy or manage SuperGrok from grok.com/?_s=billing while logged in.
X is optional on this path. You can chat, run Imagine, use Voice, and upload files without connecting an X login.
When you do want X on the same account
X Premium and Premium+ benefits on grok.com only apply after you link that X account. Open Settings → Account, click Connect your X Account, and finish X’s sign-in page. Step-by-step: Link your X account so Grok picks up the right subscription.
Grok inside X.com and the X apps is a different surface. xAI says it has no operational oversight of X’s service. Problems there go to the X Help Center or @premium on X.
Pitfalls
- Apple Hide My Email subscriptions stay tied to Sign in with Apple. Using the relay address through Google looks like a different account.
- X Premium refunds and billing disputes go through X, even after you link the login.
- Unauthenticated use (no sign-in) can skip the training opt-out outside the EU/UK. Sign in when you want Data Controls.
