When a Windows RTL language hides Exit fullscreen

On a Windows machine with a right-to-left language, you will have a way to reach Exit fullscreen again. This is a known issue, scoped to right-to-left UI languages such as Hebrew. It is not a general Windows problem. Checked Oct 5, 2026.

Cursor staff (deanrie) said on the forum on Oct 5, 2026 that when the UI is in a right-to-left language such as Hebrew, the full-screen exit button moves to the top left, where it sits behind the Windows minimize, maximize, and close buttons. Staff shared it with the team. That reply is the accepted answer on the thread. The original reporter said the workaround works. It is still a workaround, not a published fix.

Settings and notifications documents Appearance → Language, with Follow System plus 20+ languages. The staff path below uses the English labels. This page does not invent the label in other languages.

Staff workaround

  1. Close and reopen the app.
  2. Go to Settings > General > Appearance > Language and choose English.
  3. Open the computer view.
  4. Use Exit fullscreen (two inward arrows) at the top right.

Staff did not publish a keyboard shortcut that exits. If you are already stuck in the full-screen computer view, start at step 1: close and reopen the app, then change Language before you open the computer view again.

Pitfalls

  • Treating this as a bug for every Windows install. Staff scoped it to right-to-left UI languages.
  • Hunting for a keyboard shortcut to exit. None is documented, and the original report said shortcuts did not exit.
  • Assuming the accepted workaround means the layout is fixed. The reporter confirmed the steps. The product issue remains.
