Check whether Grok Imagine is still free on your plan

Grok is free to start on grok.com and the iOS and Android apps. The product overview lists creating images and video with Grok Imagine among core capabilities. Whether your account can generate right now, and how far free limits go, lives on the live pricing page and your Usage tab — not on third-party “still free in 2026” posts.

Read the live plan cards

1. Open x.ai/pricing.
2. Read the Free card ($0 / month). As of Sep 3, 2026 it lists real-time web and X search, Voice, connectors, and SOC 2 within generous limits.
3. Read the SuperGrok card ($30 / month). It lists image and video generation with Grok 4.6, Grok Bot access, connectors, higher rate limits, and Expert.
4. Read SuperGrok Plus ($100 / month) for significantly higher usage across Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Build, plus 1080p video creation.
5. Open the comparison matrix on the same page for the Image generation (Imagine) and Video generation rows across Free, Lite, SuperGrok, Plus, Heavy, Business, and Enterprise. Checkmarks change; trust the live table over any snapshot.

How free and paid usage interact

Paid SuperGrok-family plans share one weekly usage pool across products, including Imagine. Settings → Usage shows the bar, the Imagine percentage, the reset time, and any Extra Usage Credits. When the weekly pool is full, paid features pause until reset; the FAQ says you still keep Grok’s free-tier limits on Chat and Voice (separate schedule). If generation fails while the meter still has room, treat it as a client or moderation problem first: Fix Imagine when it is not generating.

Pitfalls

• A Free card that omits “image and video generation” from its bullet list does not invent a permanent unlimited free Imagine quota. Read the matrix row and your live Usage tab.
• Hitting a free or paid Imagine limit looks like a stall or upgrade prompt, which people misread as “Imagine is gone.”
• Free and paid Imagine stills keep the Grok watermark. There is no plan setting that removes it; see Understand the Imagine watermark.
