When iOS Grok Bot opens a blank conversation

You will know that a blank iOS conversation can still have arrived, and you will have the force-quit step staff gave. Waiting or backing out does not bring the messages back. Checked Oct 5, 2026.

Cursor staff (kevinn) said on the forum on Oct 5, 2026 that the conversation does reach the app when this happens; it just is not being drawn on screen. That is why waiting or backing out does not bring it back, but a full restart does. Staff said they have let the team know. For now, force-quitting and reopening the app is the way to get the conversation back.

The messages are not lost. Mobile docs do not cover this issue. There is no published fixed app version.

Staff asked three diagnostic questions in the thread: whether it happens on a fresh start versus returning from background; whether the conversation was opened from a "bot finished" notification; and whether audio was playing in another app. Those are questions, not confirmed causes. If you can reproduce the blank pane, answering them on forum thread 173776 helps staff. Do not treat a notification or background audio as the reason unless staff later say so.

Get the conversation on screen

  1. Force-quit Grok Bot on the iPhone (slide it away from the app switcher).
  2. Open the app again and return to the same conversation.
  3. Confirm the messages appear. Staff said the conversation already reached the app.
  4. If it is still blank after a force-quit, contact support with the account email, version and platform, what you were doing, a screenshot, steps tried, and the request ID. Email is hi@cursor.com.

Pitfalls

  • Waiting or tapping Back and assuming the messages never arrived. Staff said they do arrive.
  • Naming notifications or background audio as the cause. Staff only asked about those.
  • Resetting the computer for a draw bug. Staff's step is a force-quit of the iOS app.
