Fix a free-plan Imagine limit that will not reset
Fix a free-plan Imagine limit that will not reset
Grok is free to start on grok.com and the apps. Whether Free includes Imagine generations, and how far those limits go, lives on the live x.ai/pricing matrix and your Settings → Usage tab. Skip third-party “stuck for 9 days” posts as the source of truth.
Check plan and meter first
- Open x.ai/pricing. Read the Free card and the comparison rows for Image generation (Imagine) and Video generation across Free and paid tiers. Checkmarks change; trust the live table.
- In Grok, open Settings → Usage.
- Read the progress bar, the Imagine percentage, Extra Usage Credits (if any), and the printed weekly reset date and time when you are on a paid pool.
- Try one small still on grok.com/imagine after you know which plan the account is on.
Paid SuperGrok-family plans share one weekly pool across products, including Imagine. When that pool is full, paid features pause until reset. The product FAQ: you still keep Grok’s free-tier limits on Chat and Voice on a separate schedule. Free Imagine headroom, when the pricing matrix grants it, is read from the live Free/matrix row plus whatever limit UI Grok shows on your account — do not invent a hidden “force reset images” control.
If generation fails while the meter still has room
Treat client, moderation, and outage causes before billing:
- Follow Fix Imagine when it is not generating.
- Confirm you are signed in with the same account everywhere (web vs app login mix-ups are common in the billing FAQ).
- Check Check if Grok is down when many people report failures at once.
When the limit has not moved for many days
- Screenshot Settings → Usage (Imagine %, reset time, plan) and the pricing matrix row you are comparing against.
- Note platform (Web / iOS / Android), app version, and how many days since the last successful still.
- Contact support through the app or grok.com. The FAQ’s path when usage “doesn’t look right” is support — it does not document a user force-reset for free or paid Imagine caps.
While you wait, paid options on the web Usage tab are Extra Usage Credits, Auto Top Up, or a plan upgrade. See Check whether Grok Imagine is still free on your plan and Check your weekly Grok usage.
Pitfalls
- A Free card that omits image/video bullets does not invent unlimited free Imagine. Read the matrix row.
- Hitting a free or paid Imagine cap looks like a stall or upgrade prompt. That usually means the limit fired.
- Watermarked outputs stay watermarked on every plan. There is no setting that removes the Grok watermark.
