Find your Grok conversation history
Find your Grok conversation history
You can open past Grok chats on the apps and on grok.com. The Consumer FAQ documents where the history control lives on each surface.
On iOS
- Open the Grok app.
- Tap your profile picture in the top left.
- That screen is your conversation history list.
- Open any thread to continue it, or tap-hold a title to delete that conversation.
On grok.com
- Sign in at grok.com.
- Look at the top right for the history control (three horizontal lines with a magnifying glass).
- Open the list, then pick a conversation.
- Use the trash control next to an item when you want that thread gone.
What history does not keep
Private Chat (ghost icon, top right where available) does not add the thread to history. Private Chat content is deleted from systems within about 30 days unless a safety, security, or legal hold applies. Start that mode from Start a Private Chat.
Wipe or download
- Delete one chat from the history list, or delete all conversations under Settings → Data Controls / Data.
- Broader access or download requests go through Settings / Data Controls or the privacy portal linked from the legal FAQ.
- Account deletion and restore windows are covered in Control Grok training, X personalization, chats, and account deletion.
Pitfalls
- History lives on the xAI account you signed in with. A different Google, Apple, or X login shows a different list.
- Share links are separate from history. Revoke them at grok.com/share-links. See Share a Grok conversation, then kill the link.
- If the history list itself fails to load, use the triage steps in Fix “error loading” old Grok chats.
