Spend your Grok weekly usage pool on purpose

Paid SuperGrok plans include one shared weekly usage pool across Grok products. Official FAQ sections How is my weekly usage measured? and How do I get the most from my weekly usage?: a chat message uses little compute; a high-quality video or a long coding task uses far more. You choose how to burn the week.

Read the product breakdown

1. Open Grok on the web or in the app.
2. Go to Settings → Usage.
3. Read the progress bar (percentage used), the breakdown by product (API, Build, Chat, Imagine, Voice), the weekly reset time, and any Extra Usage Credits balance.

Use the breakdown when one product is eating the week. Chat-heavy weeks leave more room for Imagine or Build. A run of long coding jobs or high-quality video leaves less for everything else.

Spend patterns that match the FAQ

• Prefer chat for cheap iteration (drafts, Q&A, light edits).
• Treat high-quality video and long Build / coding sessions as expensive draws on the same bar.
• Watch Imagine and Build slices on the Usage tab before you start a heavy batch.
• Plan around the reset time on that tab (it is account-specific).

Extra Credits vs the included pool

When the included weekly pool is exhausted, paid features pause until reset. Free-tier Chat and Voice keep their own free limits on a separate schedule.

From the Usage tab on the web you can buy Extra Usage Credits, turn on Auto Top Up, or upgrade the plan. Extra Usage Credits cost more per action than the usage included in the plan. If you hit the bar every week, the FAQ’s advice is to upgrade for a larger included pool. Extra Usage Credits are web-only for now; mobile in-app purchase for credits is listed as coming later.

Pitfalls

• Grok Bot plan / sand-token usage is a separate meter from this SuperGrok weekly pool.
• Extra Credits apply after the included week is gone; they do not enlarge the included percentage until you buy them.
• Sign in with the login that owns the subscription or the Usage tab will look wrong.
