Switch Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium to The X Subscription

Use this when you want to combine a paid Cursor plan, SuperGrok, and X Premium into The X Subscription. Official path for a paid Cursor plan: cursor.com/unify. Switching is optional. If you do not switch, your current plan continues. A completed switch is permanent and cannot be undone by Support (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/do-i-have-to-switch, checked 2026-10-13). Plan cards live under Plans, billing and usage. SpaceX Super Intelligence announced the unification on Oct 12, 2026 (x.com/SpaceXSI/status/2109783335296008414; x.ai/news/x-subscription). Colin (staff) repeated the same rollout on forum 174450. New self-serve names are Free, Plus, Premium, Super, and Ultra. The new Premium is not X Premium. The new Ultra is not the previous Cursor Ultra plan (Colin, staff, forum 174450 #11).

When to start from Cursor vs from X

  1. If you have a paid Cursor plan, open cursor.com/unify while signed into that Cursor account. That is the documented start for Cursor subscribers.
  2. If you do not have a paid Cursor plan, start from x.com subscription settings. Starting from X does not include Cursor (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/x-premium, checked 2026-10-13).
  3. On The X Subscription, connect a personal X account to get X benefits. Org or affiliate X accounts cannot connect.
  4. Read the checkout total as the full price of the new plan. Unused time on the plans you leave is a separate prorated refund to the original payment method. Refunds can take a few days. They are not netted against checkout (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/pricing, checked 2026-10-13).

The news page says the option appears in your account billing settings when it is available to you, and that it rolls out over the next few days globally. Colin (staff, forum 174450 #1) said the same. Do not treat a missing button as a completed switch.

If the unify option is missing

The switch is rolling out. Official pages do not say everyone has it today. Switching is optional. If you do not switch, your current plan continues (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/do-i-have-to-switch, checked 2026-10-13).

  1. Confirm you are signed into the account that holds the paid plan you want to switch.
  2. Check Cursor billing settings and cursor.com/unify if you have a paid Cursor plan.
  3. If you do not have a paid Cursor plan, check x.com subscription settings.
  4. If the control is still missing, wait. Legacy SuperGrok, Cursor, and X Premium plans continue until you switch.

Account issues go to support@x.ai (Colin, staff, forum 174450 #1).

If the accounts use different emails

Cursor, SuperGrok, and X can sit on different logins. The documented switch still starts from the account that matches the path above: the paid Cursor login at cursor.com/unify, or x.com subscription settings when you have no paid Cursor plan.

  1. Sign into the Cursor account that actually holds the paid Cursor plan before you open unify.
  2. After the Cursor-side switch, connect the personal X account you want benefits on. Official pages do not require that X email to match the Cursor email. Org or affiliate X accounts cannot connect.
  3. Starting from X still does not include Cursor. If the paid Cursor plan lives on another login, the X-only path will not include it.
  4. Official pages do not document a merge of two paid Cursor or SuperGrok logins during unify. For account issues, write support@x.ai.

A completed switch on the wrong login is still permanent. Support cannot undo it.

What the switch does

On switch, X Premium or Premium+ on the linked X account is cancelled, with an automatic prorated refund from The X Subscription flow (docs.x.ai/x-subscription/x-premium, checked 2026-10-13). Cursor via the Apple App Store is the exception: that Cursor subscription is not cancelled or refunded in this flow, so you cancel in iOS Settings and ask Apple. Grok, Grok Bot, and X Premium via the App Store are cancelled and xAI asks Apple to refund; Apple decides. On Google Play, check that the old subscription is not still set to renew, and cancel there.

New-plan included usage is first-party only. The weekly pool covers Chat, Imagine, Voice, and Bot. Paid plans include Grok API access, billed separately at standard model rates (x.ai/pricing, checked 2026-10-14). Third-party models in Cursor are available on Premium and above, billed separately at API list prices through top-ups, from the first use. Plus is Grok models only. Official pages do not say Bots or routines carry over.

If older Bots sit on “Working on it…”

After some account combines, older Bots sat on Working on it… while Bots created after the merge still replied. Colin (staff, forum 174643) said a fix went out to affected accounts on Oct 14.

  1. Open one of the older Bots.
  2. Send a new message. Messages sent while it was stuck are not picked up.
  3. Do not Reset, delete, or recreate the Bot. Staff said that does not help this state.

Check it worked

  1. The billing page shows an X Subscription tier (Plus, Premium, Super, or Ultra), not only the old Cursor, SuperGrok, or X Premium name.
  2. After the switch, Grok Bot usage (Premium and up) is on grok.com/dashboard → Usage. Before you switch, Bot usage is on cursor.com/dashboard.
  3. The new plan charged at full price, with any refund arriving separately.

Pitfalls

  • Treating a missing unify control as a broken account. The option is rolling out over several days.
  • Starting from X when you also need Cursor. That path does not include Cursor.
  • Assuming Support can reverse a completed switch. Official docs say they cannot.
  • Expecting Bots or routines to carry over. No official page says they do.
  • Resetting, deleting, or recreating a Bot that sits on “Working on it…” after a combine. Staff said send a new message instead.
  • Reading the new Premium card as X Premium, or the new Ultra card as the previous Cursor Ultra plan.
