The official Grok FAQ states that enabling NSFW does not turn off moderation. Safety protections stay on for every plan and every setting. Some categories stay blocked for everyone, including child sexual abuse material or any sexual content involving minors, and non-consensual intimate imagery. Those protections cannot be disabled.

xAI does not publish a full list of moderation rules, and support will not hand you one. A blocked prompt sits outside what Grok is allowed to generate.

Confirm the documented rule

  1. Open grok.com or the Grok mobile app and go to Imagine.
  2. Check that NSFW is enabled in the Imagine controls if your account shows that toggle.
  3. Retry a prompt that still fails. Treat a block as a hard product limit, not a broken toggle.
  4. Stop after a few clear refusals. The FAQ warns that repeated attempts to generate prohibited content can lead to enforcement, up to account suspension, and that certain content is reported to authorities when the law requires it.

Do not try to circumvent or work around the safeguards. METAGROK will not teach filter evasion.

What you can still do inside the rules

When the refusal looks like ordinary safety filtering on an otherwise allowed topic, stay on documented Imagine tools:

  1. Rewrite the prompt with a concrete subject, action, light, and frame. Drop vague “make it spicier” language that only restates the blocked ask.
  2. Switch to Quality (v2.0) and regenerate once with the revised prompt. See Open Imagine Quality Mode and iterate a still.
